eritrea-mapASMARA, ERITREA (Worthy News)– Eritrean security forces recently raided yet another prayer meeting, arresting about 150 Christians in a suburb of Asmara, the African nation's capital, according to Religion Today.

The Christians — members of an underground fellowship known as "Living God" — reportedly met to pray about Eritrea's refugee crisis and other national concerns.

"Living God" is part of a network of underground fellowships that sprang up in Eritrea after 2002 when the government banned all religious groups with the exception of three state-sanctioned denominations: the Eritrean Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church and the Lutheran-affiliated Evangelical Church of Eritrea. All of the Pentecostal and independent evangelical groups that had established missions in Eritrea were excluded, according to The Christians.com.

In August, Eritrean authorities also arrested 30 members of the Church of the Living God when they gathered for prayer in the Kushet suburb of Asmara.

You the folish lair accuses for nothing…..will never success your evil dream.Eritrea never imprisoned any body without any reason.and remember Christianity will never accuses or polorize or expose its govt unless pray for righteous .

  • Teklia

The Eritrean Government does not prosecute any of it's citizens specially for religious purpose. Government will never allow new religion funded by corrupt freign religious organizations. In Eritrea there is absolute freedom, muslims and christians live and practicein harmony.

    • paster

Teklia, The so called government must gave u a piece of land for free and u r sold ur for it. The regime doesn't like religion, culture and any political system. Who r they
to allow and disallow only 4 religions? why 4? why not 3 or 5? or all? because
any law is done in the whim of one crazy man. Even the late Gadhafi had a book
which he had some consistency on following it, DIA is a whim man and you guys r
      blind followers.

      • Halafay mengedi

"The regime doesn't like religoin, culture and any political system." Dumbass, you sound like you know eritrea inside and out. The true christianity exists in eritrea, ethiopia, egypt and greek. Eritrea is also half muslim country just to point out to your stupidity. Religions that disobey our rich "culture" are not allowed in eritrea, such as pentecostal etc… because Religion is integrated within our culture and thus religions are basically against of who we are.

        • paster

          Give me one
example of how Pentecostal disobey your rich culture? Tell me how is Pentecostal
or Jehovah witness are against who you are? Is this true because you believe on
this or because you heard your boss DIA said so? What was the process to
disallow them? Because he said so any you believed him? I know a lot people who follow those
religions, they are peace loving people and no one has right to tell them what
to believe or not? What about if you are atheist and follower of Mao of China? Are
you allowed? Who destroyed our culture
for example is it Sawa and Warsai Yekalo
policy which increased teen age pregnancy and Aids or is it Pentecostals? Please
          don’t reply- just think!

      • Knock Knock

Why do you need 100 of religion. This is not religion you have a hidden agenda it so unclear if you believe in Christian or Muslim you are free but the rest is unhealthy and is no good.

    • Joe DeCaro

"The Eritrean Government does not prosecute any of it's citizens …"?
Then why is Eritrea called the "North Korea of Africa"?

      • simran

"North Korea of Africa." When I was in Eritrea, I never saw portrait of the president in the middle of the city. I never saw his face being on a building. I never saw the Eritrean government logo on their money, I never saw anything like North Korea in Eritrea. I mean Eritrea might be simliar to North Korea in media wise.

        • Joe DeCaro

I bet you never saw all the Eritrean prisons filled with politcal prisoners either, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Eritrea is called the "North Korea of Africa" for more than its manipulation of the media.

    • WEDI MAMA

Your right, "The Eritrean Government does not prosecute any of it's citizens specially for religious purpose." How dare you ma brotha to say that when you dont live there? How dare you to feel the pains and suffering our peeps going through? How dare you to say when your living the good life, with some dollar, and a nice car? Ohh..how dare you? You don't know how bad things are in Eritrea? You have no clue how people let each day pass by. Your saying this because you haven't learned ABC. If you've, you wouldn't be saying all this crap.

Please, Don't ever say that because it hurts me cuz i have a family there. I'm sure you got none. All I say to you, You better not say stuff you have no idea about, becuase you don't know what's about to bring to your phony imagination.

      PEACE!

Eritrean plan with 3 passengers defects to saudi arabia , uncofirmed news states one of the 3 passengers is Hagos Kisha with all gold money… watch the space

Although this may not legally be termed prosecution, in the Western world, it's called persecution.
