Bergdahl’s Parents ‘Really Hurt’ by Outcry

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Worthy News)– The former pastor of the Bob and Jani Bergdahl, parents of recently released Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl after almost five years of captivity, say they have been hurt by claims that he was a traitor and by the outpouring of anger toward their family, AP reported.

“They have been really hurt,” said Pastor Phil Proctor of Sterling Presbyterian Church in Sterling, Virginia.

Proctor said he was the family’s pastor in 2003 in Boise and through the years has remained close with them.

“This very much hit them as a shock and I’m not sure anybody’s got the full story,”  Proctor told AP.  He is urging prayer and compassion for the family.

As far as Proctor knows, the Bergdahl’s, who currently live in Idaho, have yet to speak with their son who is recovering at a military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany.
