SYCHEVKA (Worthy News)– A drug and alcohol rehabilitation center run by Christians in the village of Sychevka in north-eastern Kazakhstan has been fined and closed down for three months after a court order last month, according to Barnabas Aid.

Both the center and its director, Yuri Morozov, were fined for conducting activities not specified in the organization’s bylaws, specifically religious worship.

Last November, another case against the Sychevka Center had accused its owners of inciting religious hatred, but charges were eventually dropped for lack of evidence.

The center had housed 14 residents who were free to leave at any time, which eight of them did after police raided the rehab last March.
