(Worthy News)– A priest in India has accused its government of inaction after an April attack on a church in the town of Agra.

According to Christian Today, vandals broke into St. Mary’s Church and beheaded a statue of the infant Jesus. Church officials suspect that Hindu nationalists were responsible and have accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ignoring assaults against Christians by political movements aligned with Modi’s own Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Fringe elements are thriving because the Prime Minister doesn’t utter a word against them,” said the Rev. Santosh D’Sa, secretary of the archbishop of Agra.

Although police said that five teams had been assigned to investigate this latest church attack, so far officials have failed to identify any suspects.
