I am currently making a decision to travel to Libya for work reasons. I am currently teaching two young Libyan children in Malaysia. I have been doing this for three years now. I would like to know whether you can share with anything at all that will help me in my decision-making as to whether to take up the offer or not. I am a Christian.

Those, who claimed to be in jail in Libya because of their convert from Islam. We share the same believes and ideas. Actually we love all religions, God told us, in the holy Quran, to believe in him and in his prophets and in his holy books.

It should be mentioned that I deny, refuse and condemn any news which describe our leader, in a negative ways. Some news say that : Muammar Al-Qaddafi is behind their arrest, and that he doesn't like Christians. We , Libyans, know who Al-Qaddafi is. Al-qaddafi's ideas and philosophy is bigger than events like these. In Libya. We call him the leader. He is a revolutionary man. His ideas are brilliant. He is an open minded and against any kind of discrimination be it racial or even religious discrimination.

Al- Qaddafi is man who have a philosophy. He is a philosopher and thinker. We love Al-Qaddaf, and we have learned many things from him. He is a nice man. We love him. I deny any news that say he is behind the arrest of converted people from Islam. We know that he is a kind man. He respects all religions. We used to listen to his speeches and enjoy the things he talks about. We wish him well and may God bless him and his family. After all his philosophy and ideas are proved to be more wise than many world leaders and presidents who brought destruction to the world such as president Bush's ideas and philosophy.
As for my cousins, I do not know how they got involved and therefore were jailed.
I hope that they be released soon.

I am a Christian currently travelling in Libya on business. The only thing that can set the Muslim world free is to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. I visited Leptis Magna yesterday and stood over the grave site of a Christian who died during the Byzantine era. The cross of his grave with the words "The light and the life" are a start testimony to the oppression and darkness of your vile religion. I say that if Islam is so compelling let it compete on the open and free market of ideas.

The more they persecute Christians, the more Muslims will dump Islam. There's nothing in Islam that can attract right thinking people embracing that religion. Only gullible, ignorant people see Islam as a "peaceful" religion! It's very obvious – Islam & violence are inseparable.

This is fairly standard practise straight across the Islamic world – namely Egypt is very good at this – because you have to have your religion on your ID card many are driven into hiding – with their undocumented newborns – because of their Christian beliefs –

The Iranian parliament voted 196-7 (Sept 2008) to put to death anyone converting from Islam to Christianity – in Iran's parliament it has been described as an 'exodus from Islam' so to stem the tide they have voted overwhelmingly for the death penalty –

Under Shari'a law – the very same law Muslims wish to introduce in the west – as a way to 'improve democracy' – the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence or law making bodies – all say the death penalty for leaving Islam – is fully in line with Shari'a law.

See – the part of the Koran that says there is no compulsion to join – was abrogated by later parts where Muhammed killed to convert. But also the non conversion – sura – applies more to requirement of the payment of a tax called the jizya – levied on all non Muslims living in Muslim lands – according to Muhammed's own teaching non-Muslims were to be made to know that they were subjugated – his words were to – drive them off the main road – and force them to take the minor roads – so that they will know that they have been subjugated.

Under these conditions it was easier for many people to simply join Islam – as many did for political and financial purposes.
