HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (ANS) - Warren Duffy, host of the Christian talk show,
"Duffy and Company" which is aired daily on KKLA in Los Angeles, California, has
appealed for Christians around the world to come together in prayer for the stand-off at
the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
"We are asking for 15-minute pledges of prayer and people will be able to sign up for
a time slot in their time zone on the website that is being set up through www.kkla.com
and will be up and running on Thursday, April 25," said Duffy from office in
Huntington Beach, California.
He went on to say, "At the Church of the Nativity, one of Christianity's holiest
sites, a standoff has been taking place since April 2nd. More than 200 Palestinians
are barricaded inside with hostages that include two 10 year old boys and dozens of other
youths isolated in the cave where Jesus was believed to have been born.
"As the Bible says, 'This requireth much prayer!'"
Duffy pointed out that 14 years after Jesus' resurrection, Peter was taken captive and
chained to an around-the-clock guard. "The situation appeared hopeless so the early
Christian church began to pray and they prayed 24 hours a day until miraculously, God sent
an angel, and without any violence or bloodshed, Peter was set free," he said.
"We believe divine intervention is needed now at the Church of the Nativity to set
these modern day captives free and end the violence and standoff at the Church of the
Nativity.
"Will you join this worldwide, 24-hour-a-day Bethlehem Prayer Vigil for the hostages
and the Christian clergy being held inside this Holy site? Will you also pray that God
will care for the hostages and that they will suffer no physical or emotional harm? Please
pray that the entire conflict in Bethlehem will reach a peaceful resolution with no damage
to the Church of the Nativity.
"We are asking that you sign up for 15-minute prayer blocks, any hour of the day or
night. We hope to have every time zone in the world represented on this Prayer Vigil.
"With God, all things are possible."
You can send a message to Warren Duffy saying you are participating in this prayer vigil
