Homosexuals' Demonstrations Against Scouts Fail to Draw Much Attention

WASHINGTON, DC (AgapePress) - Across the nation yesterday, there were demonstrations by homosexual groups angry at the Boy Scouts. But it appears the homosexual activists failed to generate much interest when they held their series of protests.
Media reports say in major centers such as Washington, DC, and Dallas, only a few dozen demonstrators were on hand to criticize the Boy Scouts' stand against allowing homosexuals to be leaders. Small crowds were reported in other cities as well.
A small group of sign-carrying, pro-homosexual demonstrators gathered across from the Boy Scouts headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Though they did not say much, one demonstrator said they wanted to call attention to the Boy Scouts promotion of prejudice and hatred.
"We're here because that hateful group over there is what's going to end up on the front pages of the newspapers this week," he said.
Recently USA Today had two writers debate the issue of homosexuals and the Scouts. They chose a strong homosexual advocate for the pro-homosexual viewpoint and Andrew Sullivan--a homosexual and former editor of the New Republic--to defend the Scouts. Boston Globe writer Don Feder says Sullivan wrote that freedom means the irrational and fearful have rights as well.
"In other words, Mr. Sullivan said the Scouts are dumb...sadistic...[and] paranoid...but they have every right to be dumb, sadistic, self-defeating, bigoted, and paranoid," Feder said.
The issue was settled in the Supreme Court in June in favor of the Scouts, but homosexual groups vow to continue pressuring the Scouts.
