JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (Worthy News)– Some 3,000 people gathered in the Negev Desert for “Midburn” as Israelis attempted to recreate the ‘Burning Man’ festival held annually in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

Midburn is a mix of “midbar,” Hebrew for desert, and the English word “burn.”

For five days, people mostly Israelis participated in the festival to dedicate themselves to  “radical self-expression, and self-reliance.”

During the day, participants gathered at the ‘tent of heaven and hell’ where they were chosen at random for one of two fates: getting massages or doing chores.

Nightly, during the festival giant wooden sculptures were burned.
