ISIL Declares Caliphate; Crucifies Eight

DAMASCUS (Worthy News)– The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) declared the establishment of a “Caliphate” on Sunday announcing that its leader as the ruling “Caliph,” according to Agence France-Presse.

The Caliphate would be established in all areas ISIL controls in Iraq and Syria. It announced that its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, would be the Caliph or head of state. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was released in 2009 from a U.S. detention center in Iraq. The U.S. has a $10 million bounty on his head.

“The Shura (council) of the Islamic State met and discussed this issue (of the Caliphate)… The Islamic State decided to establish an Islamic Caliphate and to designate a Caliph for the state of the Muslims,” said ISIL’s spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani in an audio released statement.

“The jihadist cleric Baghdadi was designated the Caliph of the Muslims,” said Adnani.

The Caliphate would extend from Aleppo (in northern Syria) to Diyala in Iraq.

Meanwhile in Deir Hafer in the east of Aleppo province, eight rebels fighters were crucified on Saturday by ISIL in Syria according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

“ISIL executed eight men in Deir Hafer in the east of Aleppo province” on Saturday because they belonged to rebel groups that had fought against the jihadists as well as Assad’s forces, SOHR said.

ISIL “crucified them in the main square of the village, where their bodies will remain for three days.”
