Boko Haram Kills Muslim Cleric

ABUJA, NIGERIA (Worthy News)– Boko Haram has killed a Nigerian Muslim cleric who had publicly chastised the militant Islamist sect, Reuters News reported.

Gunmen shot at Sheik Adam Albani’s car in Zaria Saturday as he drove home after preaching at a local mosque; the gunfire also killed his wife and son, according to police spokesman Aminu Lawan.

The assassination of the sheikh was clearly meant to discourage other Muslim clerics from speaking out against Boko Haram; the violent sect has already killed thousands in its attempts to create an Islamic state in a country divided evenly between Christians and Muslims.

Boko Haram has attacked anyone and anything that opposes its ideology of Islamic insurgency to include schools, churches and mosques. More than a hundred people were killed last week alone in Haram’s attacks in Nigeria’s northeast states.
