(Worthy News) – An 82-year-old pastor in Louisiana is enjoying the “best” ministry of his life after setting up a roadside prayer station at a busy intersection, Baptist Press (BP) reports.

A third-generation preacher and the pastor of New Beulah Baptist Church in Hammond, Louisiana, Les Fogleman built a tall, wooden cross at the intersection near his church and sat there for around two hours a day, three days a week, inviting people to receive prayer and the Gospel, BP said. In time, volunteers built a prayer pavilion with benches for the preacher and those who stopped by for ministry to sit at.

Since beginning the prayer station in June, Fogleman has had more than 440 people stop and ask for prayer, BP reports. Moreover, the pastor has baptized 11 people with whom he shared the Gospel at the prayer station.

“It’s just something the Lord gave me,” Fogleman told BP. “It’s the best ministry I’ve ever had in my life.”

Many of those who have received ministry in this way have struggled with major problems, including homelessness or having children addicted to drugs. “I never know what I’m going to be praying for when somebody turns in,” Fogleman said. “So, I think it’s a great privilege just to be able to do it.”
