(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump is expected to meet Thursday at the White House with senior executives from major U.S. defense companies as his administration seeks to accelerate weapons production following the war with Iran and other conflicts that have strained Pentagon stockpiles.

The meeting comes amid growing concern in Washington over depleted inventories of air-defense systems, precision-guided munitions, and other critical weapons after the United States supplied large quantities of arms to allies while also using munitions in its own military operations.

According to budget documents cited in the report, the White House has requested $88 billion in additional funding from Congress, much of it described as covering war-related operating costs.

The Pentagon has separately awarded Lockheed Martin a contract worth up to $35 billion to expand production of THAAD missile interceptors, a key air-defense system used by the United States and deployed in Israel as part of broader American and allied defense networks.

Thursday’s meeting will mark the second White House gathering of major defense contractors focused on increasing production capacity. A previous session in March included executives from BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, RTX Corp., Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, and L3Harris Technologies.

The administration has also advanced framework agreements with defense firms aimed at increasing production of several major weapons systems. Those plans include tripling production of Patriot interceptors, doubling THAAD output, and expanding production of Tomahawk cruise missiles and AMRAAM air-to-air missiles.

However, many of those agreements have not yet been converted into final contracts. Industry executives have warned that congressional approval of additional funding will be essential before companies make major investments in new facilities, equipment, and workforce expansion.

The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved a version of the National Defense Authorization Act supporting $1.15 trillion in defense spending and granting multiyear procurement authority for several munitions programs. Final passage is expected later this year.

The Trump administration has also increased pressure on defense contractors to prioritize production over shareholder returns. In January, Trump signed an executive order aimed at identifying underperforming contractors on government programs, signaling a broader push to hold the defense industry accountable as America seeks to rebuild its military readiness.

The renewed emphasis on weapons production reflects a sobering reality: sustained conflict in the Middle East, ongoing threats from Iran and its proxies, and the need to support allies such as Israel have exposed weaknesses in America’s defense industrial base. The White House is now seeking to ensure that U.S. military strength is backed not only by advanced technology, but by the capacity to produce weapons at the scale modern warfare demands.
