Policeman Guarding Peshawar Church Killed on Duty

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (Worthy News)– Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a policeman guarding a Peshawar Pentecostal church Tuesday, according to the Pakistan Christian Post.

Although there were no worshipers inside the Assembly of God Church, Constable Atta Ullah was shot and killed while on guard at the Swati Gate.

Before the attackers fled the scene they had enough time to take the slain officer’s assigned rifle.

Pastor A. R. Hashmat of the Assembly of God told the Post that this was the second attack on his church this year, causing his congregation much consternation. In fact, many Christians have yet to recover from the Sept. 22 attack on Peshawar’s All Saints Anglican Cathedral when two suicide bombers killed 113 worshippers and injured scores more.

After the shooting of Constable Ullah, Peshawar’s Christians again demanded more security for their churches.
