Archbishop: Genocide of Christians in Nigeria

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

ABUJA, NIGERIA (Worthy News)– A senior church leader has compared the systematic slaughter of Christians in Northern Nigeria to the Rwandan genocide.

According to Barnabas Aid, Archbishop Magnus Atilade said: “We are disturbed and very alarmed at the rate and consistency with which Christians are being slaughtered in northern Nigeria, in a manner similar to the genocide in Rwanda. The brutality, cruelty and inhuman manner in which Nigerian Christians are being systematically and consistently slaughtered by individuals claiming to be adherents of the Islamic faith has reached an alarming proportion that we are compelled to speak out. This is inhuman.”

Last month dozens of Christians were killed by Muslims in the Northern and Middle Belt of Nigeria while numerous churches in the Gwoza area of Borno state were razed as part of Boko Haram’s deadly campaign to establish the African nation as an Islamic state.

Boko Harem is a militant Islamist group that means Western ways are sinful.
