Israel Focuses on PA Payments to Palestinian Prisoners Convicted of Terrorist Acts


JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (Worthy News)– Israel’s Security Cabinet is investigating ways to discourage the Palestinian Authority from sending stipends to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails convicted of terrorism.

The Palestinian Authority transfers monthly payments to Palestinian prisoners convicted of  terrorist acts against Israel, some of which reach as high as $3,500 per month, while the average wage in the West Bank is a mere $640 per month.

“Providing financial support for terrorists not only violates basic morality, it encourages further terrorist outrages. For example, it may tempt young Palestinians to seek an answer to familial financial difficulties through the use of violence,” according to a memo circulated at the Security Cabinet meeting.
