Corker: Senate Republicans Have a ‘Plan B’ For Iran Nuke Deal
(Worthy News) – Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker thinks it’s unlikely Congress will be able to derail the Iran nuclear deal, but he and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly may have fallback plans.
“My guess is this agreement is going to happen,” Corker told a Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Tennessean reports.
“At the end of the day, I don’t think there’s going to be likely a veto-proof number of people to keep it from occurring.”
Congress has the authority to review the agreement, and if its review leads to legislation aimed at killing the agreement, President Barack Obama would veto it. Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has said in the past he anticipated enough opposition to override that veto, the Tennessean reports. [ Source ]
