Christian Headmaster Assaulted by Muslim Teachers

By Joseph DeCaro

(Worthy News) – This month, a school headmaster from Pakistan’s Christian minority in Phool Nagar was beaten by his Muslim colleagues after he was promoted ahead of them.

According to International Christian Concern, Saddique Azam has been the headmaster of a government-affiliated school since 2009.

“I am afraid for my job, my life and my children’s security,” Azam told ICC. “They have threatened that they will teach me a ‘lesson’ and never allow me to go back to my workplace.

“Even the police are reluctant in providing security to me. I have not done anything wrong, but even then I have to suffer for my Christian values in this society.”

In Pakistan, religious minorities find it problematic to obtain work other than as a laborer, domestic servant or street sweeper. And in the few instances where a Christian or other non-Muslim is promoted to a supervisory position, they are not accepted by their Muslim colleagues.
