Kenya to institute repressive religious regulations

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Pastors are opposing new government regulations aimed at ‘gagging and muzzling’ the Christians in Kenya.

According to Barnabas Aid, the new regulations require that all pastors hold a theological degree in order to preach; they are also banned from fund raising and even evangelizing under a new government broadcasting code.

Further, religious societies will be required to document all their programs and provide detailed information on the individuals who run them.

Many pastors see the new regulations as yet another expression of official persecution, e.g., the government failed to register more than 7,000 churches in 2014 and last year not a single church was registered.

Pastors called on all Christians in Kenya not only to pray, but to bring the new regulations before the courts as they violate the country’s constitution.
