Washington Supreme Court to hear appeal of florist fined for refusing to serve gay wedding

(Worthy News) – The Washington Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case of a florist penalized for declining to prepare floral arrangements for a same-sex wedding.

The court announced Wednesday that it would take up the appeal of Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene’s Flowers in Richland, Washington, who has been at the center of a high-profile legal battle pitting the First Amendment against the state’s anti-discrimination law.

Alliance Defending Freedom senior counsel Kristen Waggoner said Thursday that Ms. Stutzman “and many others like her around the country have been willing to serve any and all customers, but they are understandably not willing to promote any and all messages.” [ Source ]
