China: Officials postpone Christians’ trial

(Worthy News) – Chinese authorities in Zhejiang province have postponed the trial of five Christians who have been detained for defending their rights.
According to China Aid, the Christians had resisted a demolition team sent to destroy the cross of Yazhong Church in Wenzhou. Arrested at the scene of the protest and later released, the five traveled to Beijing to petition Communist higher authorities, but instead they were again detained.
Originally scheduled for June 30, the Christians’ trial was postponed because their defense attorney had requested additional witnesses, including three policemen, four police assistants and a local party secretary.
China Aid reports on the abuses experienced by the members of Yazhong Church in order to promote religious freedom and rule of law in China.
