(Worthy News) – A new Pew Research Center study found that, of 130 countries, the US had the highest rate of children living in single-parent homes, beating out other developed nations like the UK, France, Germany, and Canada.
23% of American children under the age of 18 live in single-parent homes, according to the study, compared with 21% in the UK, 16% in France, 12% in Germany and 15% in Canada.
“These numbers are growing dramatically for the high school educated and declining for those with college and advanced degrees,” said Glenn T. Stanton of Focus on the Family, who called the report’s findings “a national tragedy.”
Less developed countries like China, Nigeria, and India had 3%, 4%, and 5% of minors living in single-parent homes respectively.
