Iran proxy vows retaliation after US strikes in Iraq kill over a dozen militants

(Worthy News) – Iran-backed militias in Iraq vowed to respond to US strikes Sunday that killed between 12 and 24 fighters sponsored by Iran, as the US promised to continue battling Iranian influence in the region.
The strikes Sunday, which hit three sites in Iraq and two in Syria, were a reprisal by the US to the firing of 30 rockets at a US compound Friday which killed an American civilian contractor and wounded 4 servicemen.
“Al-Husseini warned that the U.S. aggression will be met with an appropriate response,” Al-Manar, an official media outlet of Iran proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon, said of Kataeb Hezbollah spokesman Jaafar Al-Husseini’s response.
Both Iraq’s outgoing Prime Minister and President condemned the US attacks as a violation of US sovereignty while the US State Department maintained that it would exercise its right to self-defense in the Shi’ite majority country.
