Serious Flooding Occurring Throughout Israel
(Worthy News) – Heavy rains continued to cause mass flooding throughout Israel breaking a 51-year record, during which time the Sea of Galilee has drastically risen approximately 9 inches over the past 24 hours and over 17 inches since the storms started.
Recent torrential downpours in northern Israel have broken a 51-year record of rainfall within a two-week period, the Israel Meteorological Service (IMS) announced Thursday.
The IMS said that the Western and Upper Galilee have seen more than 400 millimeters (15.7 inches) of rain, causing major floods. Some meteorological stations have even recorded more than 450 millimeters (17.7 inches).
Such numbers have only been seen twice since measuring started 80 years ago — in December 1951 and in January 1969. According to Channel 12, in certain southern areas the rains also surpassed 76-year records. [ Source: Times of Israel (Read More…) ]

Rescue services operated in Tel Aviv and the surrounding areas overnight, providing assistance to those caught in the flooding. Police said in a statement they worked alongside soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces and volunteers to rescue residents. There were no casualties reported.
The rainfall caused extensive flooding in Nahariya, a coastal city of some 50,000 near the Lebanon border.
