US President Trump Takes Malaria Drug against COVID-19

(Worthy News) – US President Donald Trump says he has been taking a malaria drug to protect against the new coronavirus COVID-19, despite warnings from his health officials. “What do you have to lose?” he told reporters on Monday.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautioned that the drug hydroxychloroquine was unproven and that it could cause dangerous heart rhythm abnormalities in coronavirus patients.
However, thousands of miles away in the Netherlands, family doctor Rob Elens from its southern province of Limburg claimed he successfully used the drug mentioned by Trump in a cure for coronavirus patients.
Elens said the ten patients he treated were older than 60 and had underlying problems. They were symptom-free in four days. Elens explained he used a combination of hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and azithromycin for treating them. None of these patients died.
But Dutch health authorities ordered the doctor to stop the treatment citing health risks. Elens countered that hydroxychloroquine existed since 1955 and had been taken over millions of times. ”In the time it was prescribed (100 million doses), zero people died,” he stressed in comments viewed by Worthy News.
However, he suggested that authorities demand people first wait on an anti-COVID-19 vaccine.
