A series of earthquakes that struck Mexico on Monday morning were felt across San Diego County in California, Fox News reported. At least four quakes struck the Mexican state of Baja California, around 120 southeast of the US-Mexico border, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The initial magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded at 8:09 am Monday. This tremblor was followed twenty minutes later by two preliminary magnitude 5.1 quakes and a preliminary magnitude 4.5 quake, that all came within minutes of each other.

Ten further tremblors ranging from 2.5 to 3.7 in magnitude were recorded over the next few hours, Fox News said. Baja California’s civil protection division said that there had been no immediate reports of damage.

Reports on the USGS “Did You Feel It?” map showed mild tremors were felt in Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, Oceanside, Poway, Ramona, San Diego, Santee, Vista, Alpine, Pine Valley, Chula Vista, National City, Spring Valley, Lemon Grove, La Mesa, El Cajon, Imperial Beach, Valley Center, Pauma Valley, Mount Laguna, Borrego Springs and Boulevard, ABC7 said.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake centered in Baja California killed two people and damaged buildings in El Centro and San Diego in 2010.
