Coronavirus: India’s economy shrinks by a quarter, in worst slump for at least 24 years
(Worthy News) – India’s economy has suffered its worst slump in 24 years as the country continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic.
Official data shows the economy shrunk by 23.9% in the quarter from April to June – its worst performance since the government began releasing quarterly data in 1996.
And economists say the impact on GDP is likely to be much higher, given the scale of the country’s gig economy and the number of workers on temporary, short-term or part-time contracts. [ Source: Sky News (Read More…) ]
