National Guard DC presence will swell to 21,000 for Biden inauguration


bigstock Armed soldier with rifle stand 251636740 united states military flag army(Worthy News) – U.S. officials say the number of National Guard troops who will pour into the nation’s capital to assist law enforcement with security surrounding the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden has grown to about 21,000.

Officials say Guard members from all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, are deploying to the city. Officials had initially said up to 20,000 would be needed, but that number has grown based on additional requests from law enforcement.

The U.S. officials weren’t authorized to discuss security details publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. [ Source: Military Times (Read More…) ]
