Iranian hardliner Raisi, tied to mass executions, sworn in as regime president

(Worthy News) – Iran’s new hardline president Ebrahim Raisi, who has been tied to mass executions and crackdowns of political opponents, was sworn in on Thursday as dissidents urged international leaders not to play ball with the regime.
Iranian officials declared Raisi the winner of a June election marked by low turnout and dogged by accusations of election rigging. He previously served as prosecutor general of Tehran between 1989 and 1994 as well as the first deputy head of the judiciary between 2004 and 2014.
He played a key role in a “death commission” that ordered the executions of thousands of political prisoners in 1988. [ Source: Fox News (Read More…) ]
