(Worthy News) – Heartbreaking reports emerged Monday of Islamist Taliban fighters going house-to-house to find people who supported the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan.

Many faced imminent execution by revenge-seeking militants, several sources said. Among those targeted were people ranging from interpreters to former guards of U.S. troops and allies.

The reports of executions came amid chaotic scenes at the main airport in Kabul, where thousands tried to leave, some even holding themselves at leaving American military planes.

Outnumbered U.S. troops struggled to evacuate embassy staff and other Americans and loyal Afghans.

But as U.S. President Joe Biden prepared to address the nation, it became increasingly clear that thousands of Afghans linked to U.S. operations, 30,000 by some accounts, would be abandoned.

Minority Christians also faced possible death in areas where the Islamist Taliban group already imposed its strict interpretation of Islam.

Biden has come under pressure over his perceived failure to prevent the chaos that killed at least seven people Monday around Kabul airport alone, not counting many reported executions.

In talking points obtained by Worthy News, Biden was expected to blame poor intelligence and say that his administration always knew that the fall of Kabul was not “an inevitability” but a “possibility.”
