Majority of companies plan to issue COVID vaccine mandate for employees

coronavirus 2 worthy ministries(Worthy News) – A new survey by advisory firm Willis Towers Watson shows that more than half of US companies are planning some kind of COVID-19 vaccine mandate for their employees by the end of the year, ABC News reports. The survey was carried out last month, amid the surge of the more contagious delta variant.

Published on Wednesday, the survey shows that 52% of companies plan to have vaccine mandates in place by the end of this year, ABC said. These mandates range from requiring the entire workforce to be vaccinated to requiring only employees who work in public spaces like cafeterias to take the shot.

The new percentage is a sharp increase from the 21% of firms who currently have a vaccine mandate for employees, ABC reports “The delta variant has made employers take new actions to keep their workers — and workplaces — safe and healthy. We expect even more employers to institute vaccine mandates in the wake of FDA approval of the Pfizer vaccine,” Dr. Jeff Levin-Scherz of Willis Towers Watson said in a statement.

The survey also found that 59% of employers are currently tracking their employees’ vaccination status, and an additional 19% intend or are thinking about doing so this year.

Moreover, around 31% of employers are either offering or considering offering financial incentives to their staff to get the shot, ABC said.
