Christians continue to be slaughtered in Nigeria

(Worthy News) – On December 19, Boko Haram terrorists affiliated with Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) murdered 12 Christians in Borno state, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.
The US Commission on Religious Freedom warned this year that Nigeria is becoming a “killing field” for Christians, and that genocide may ensue.
Tens of thousands of Christians have been murdered by Islamic terrorists seeking to impose Sharia law across Nigeria. Christian communities are subject to murderous attacks not only by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists but also by radicalized Fulani herdsmen. Rights groups have ranked Nigeria as number one in the world for Christians murdered on account of their faith.
Concerning the December 19 attack, a local resident told Morning Star News: “The Islamic extremist militants attacked the predominantly Christian village of Kilangal, Askira-Uba County, in the afternoon, shortly after residents were leaving church worship services.” Another local resident, Joseph Yohanna, added, “I feel very sad that our people have continued to be attacked ceaselessly by Boko Haram elements without the government doing anything to end these attacks.”
The Nigerian government has repeatedly downplayed the sustained attacks on Christians, trivializing them as land squabbles among other things. According to the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group reporting on Nigeria, however, it cannot be ignored that the country’s president Muhammadu Buhari is himself a Fulani Muslim, and this may explain the lack of forceful action to crush the terrorist insurgency.
Calling for prayer, ICC said in its report: “Please pray for the families of those who were killed during these attacks and for the safety of Nigerian citizens living amongst extreme violence. Pray that the Nigerian government would be wise in dealing with terrorists and that they will end this insurgency as soon as possible.”
