(Worthy News) – The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on Monday to allow the state of Alabama to use a Republican-drawn congressional map after a lower court ruled that the map violates the Voting Rights Act.
Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberal justices, Elane Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer, in dissenting.
Justice Kagan wrote that the decision “does a disservice to Black Alabamians who under that precedent have had their electoral power diminished” under the map. [ Source: Just the News (Read More…) ]
