King Charles III Coronation Set For May

LONDON (Worthy News) – The coronation of Charles III, the first new monarch for Britain in more than 70 years, has been set for May 6.
It is due to be a less extravagant affair than his mother’s coronation in 1953, sources say, amid economic worries.
Buckingham Palace said Tuesday that the ceremony will be “rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry” but also “reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future.”
The Palace also made clear that the coronation will have Christian elements following the example of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was a believer in Christ.
“The coronation ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside the Queen Consort,” the Palace added.
It also stressed that the coronation “will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”
The Palace didn’t address reports that Charles, 73, wants a shorter, less extravagant ceremony of just one hour.
Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation service in 1953 lasted more than three hours. Unconfirmed reports have suggested the guest list is likely to be cut from 8,000 in 1953 to 2,000, British media said.
However, despite the expected shorter time frame, Charles will still be anointed with what organizers call “holy oil,” receive the orb, coronation ring, and scepter, then be crowned with the majestic St Edward’s crown and blessed during the ceremony, reports said.
His wife Camilla will also be anointed with “holy oil“ and crowned, as was the Queen Mother when she was crowned Queen in 1937, according to experts.
