Republicans Take Control Of US House

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – Republicans have secured the 218 seats needed for a majority in the lower chamber of the U.S Congress a week after the midterm elections, CBS News network projects.
The projected Republican majority was expected to be welcomed by Americans expressing concern about President Joe Biden’s perceived pro-abortion agenda and economic policies.
The released expected results came a day after former President Donald J. Trump announced he would run again for the top job.
However, Democrats who opposed Trump’s announced presidential campaign did manage to maintain control over the U.S. Senate.
The Republican Party is now projected to win between 218-223 seats in the 435-seat House, according to CBS.
Kevin McCarthy, who rank-and-file Republicans picked on Tuesday as their nominee to replace Democrat Nancy Pelosi as the next Speaker of the House, celebrated having “officially flipped” the chamber.
“Americans are ready for a new direction, and House Republicans are ready to deliver,” the California congressman wrote on social network platform Twitter.
Pelosi, 82, made clear she would not give up her position quietly. She vowed that her party would exert “strong leverage over a scant Republican majority” without indicating whether she would stay as minority leader.
