(Worthy News) – Fulani jihadists in Nigeria murdered 21 people in Plateau state on Sunday in coordinated attacks on the Rim, Jol, and Kwi communities of Riyom and the Gana-Ropp community in the Barkin Ladi local government area, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.

Community and church leaders have been calling on the Nigerian government at state and federal levels to do more to suppress what rights groups have described as a “genocidal” onslaught, against Christians especially, by Islamic jihadists intent on establishing Sharia law.

In Sunday’s attacks in Plateau state, Fulani terrorists killed two people in Rim village of Riyom, seven in Jol, and 11 in Kwi. The Rev. Nichodemus Kim was was murdered in Gana-Ropp Barkin Ladi. “The attacks on Rim, Jol and Kwi were simultaneously coordinated by the terrorists between 2 and 7 p.m,” ICC said in its report. “In Kwi, the community of Hei-gwe was completely burned down and farmlands destroyed,” ICC added. Plateau state is one of several states that have been most affected by the jihadists’ murderous intent.

Calling for Nigeria’s new government to take action, Rwang Tengwongj, National Publicity Secretary leader of the Borno Youth Movement (BYM), said in a statement: “We call on the new administration both at the federal and state level to come up with new strategies to address the security situation in the country and particularly in Plateau State. Security personnel must also wake up to their statutory responsibility to safeguard lives and property.”

With well over 50,000 Christians slaughtered by Islamic jihadists since 2009, Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
