WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – A controversial impeachment resolution aiming to remove U.S. President Joe Biden from office for “failing” to secure the southern border has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

The House voted 219-208 to refer the bill to the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees in a setback for Democrats who hoped to kill the measure outright.

However, by referring the resolution to House committees, Republicans turned aside an attempt by hardline conservatives to force an impeachment vote against Biden on Thursday.

The resolution was offered by firebrand Representative Lauren Boebert who alleged that Biden violated his oath by failing to enforce immigration laws.

She said he also did not secure the U.S.-Mexico border against the synthetic opioid drug fentanyl influx that killed many Americans.

Another outspoken Representative, Marjorie Taylor Greene, announced plans for similar impeachment initiatives against Biden, two members of his Cabinet, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and a U.S. attorney prosecuting participants in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

But the two legislators were overheard shouting insults at each other, with Greene accusing Boebert of voting her impeachment articles.

CURSING BOEBERT

Greene apparently cursed out Boebert while the House was voting, as the two spoke in a center aisle of the House floor, footage showed.

“I was sitting down, and so I stood up, and I said, ‘I’m happy to clarify my public statements to your face.’ “I told her exactly what I think about her,” Greene told reporters later.

Greene said she told Boebert she was annoyed that rather than supporting her impeachment effort, she overtook it. “It’s purely for fundraising. It’s throwing out red meat so that people will donate to her campaign because she’s coming up on the end of the month, and she’s trying to produce good fundraising numbers.”

Both women were seen as stars within former President Donald J. Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) movement, but their political relationship has deteriorated.

Boebert declined to speak to a Republican Party conference about her fast-tracked impeachment resolution after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy invited her to do so.

McCarthy already opposed the impeachment resolution amid concerns the weighty matter needed more time to prepare.

Yet critics say several Republicans are eager to impeach Biden as retribution after his predecessor, Republican Trump, was twice impeached by the then-Democratic-controlled House, once over Ukraine and once for his actions ahead of the U.S. Capitol violence.
