Gaza Strip Worthy Christian News

(Worthy News) – Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip recently held a rare display of protest against the brutal Hamas Islamic terror organization which rules them, i24NEWS reports.

A sworn enemy of Israel, and a rival of the Palestinian Authority which controls parts of the West Bank, Hamas seized power in Gaza in 2006

While Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh held “unity” talks with PA president Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo at the weekend, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip held rallies expressing discontent with the ruling party, and demanding improvements to their dire living standards, i24NEWS said.

“Where is the electricity and where is the gas? For shame. For shame,” the protesters chanted at a refugee camp, i24NEWS reports. Some protestors set fire to the Hamas flag and denounced both Haniyeh and Abbas.
One protest in Khan Yunis appeared to have been triggered when a local resident was killed by a municipality bulldozer that was demolishing an allegedly illegal structure, i24NEWS reports. “Subsequently, Khan Yunis mayor Alaa al-Batta stepped down, followed by the resignation of the entire municipal council,” i24NEWS said in its report.

However, i24NEWS has been told by local sources that the protests were not as large as had been suggested on social media and in Israeli news outlets.
