Nigeria: 16 Christians slaughtered by Islamic terrorists in Benue state

(Worthy News) – Fulani herdsmen and other Islamic terrorists slaughtered 16 Christians in Nigeria’s Benue state in the last five weeks, as the 14-year-long Islamic jihadist genocidal campaign against Nigerian Christians continues with impunity, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.
Six Christians were murdered on Oct. 29 alone, as the terrorists carried out dual attacks on Tse Gamber village and Ngai village in Benue’s Gwer West County, MSN reports. Three other Christians were killed in Gwe West County on October 23. Aea resident Terna Jacob identified them as Iorhemba Cletus, 37; Akaa Clifford, 50; and Igbahemba Abua, 55. “They were ambushed and killed by the terrorists,” Jacob said in a text message to MSN.
Eighty-year-old Washima Erukaa, a Christian official of the Ukum Local Government Council, was kidnapped on Sept. 23 and then murdered after his relatives could not pay the ransom demanded, MSN reports. who had been kidnapped from his home in Zaki Biam on Sept. 23, said they learned on Sunday (Oct. 29) that he had been killed on Oct. 23 because relatives were unable to pay the demanded ransom amount.
Fulani herdsmen on Oct. 14 attacked Imatom village in Logo County, killing three members of the Universal Reformed Christian Church at about 9 pm, MSN reports. Three other Christians were killed on Oct. 5 during an attack on Daudu town.
“Nigeria led the world in Christians killed for their faith in 2022, with 5,014, according to Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List (WWL) report,” Morning Star News attests in its report. “Nigeria also led the world in Christians abducted (4,726), sexually assaulted or harassed, forcibly married or physically or mentally abused, and it had the most homes and businesses attacked for faith-based reasons. As in the previous year, Nigeria had the second most church attacks and internally displaced people.”
With well over 50,000 Christians murdered since 2009, Nigeria ranks sixth on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where believers are persecuted.
