(Worthy News) – Alleged Israeli airstrikes on Sunday rendered Damascus airport inoperative just hours after the resumption of flights, following a similar attack last month, according to a war monitor. State media also confirmed the incident.

On Sunday afternoon, Israeli warplanes conducted a fresh raid targeting Damascus International Airport, causing it to be rendered nonoperational again, as reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in Britain.

The organization stated that the airstrike focused on the runways, and it additionally noted hearing an explosion emanating from the vicinity of a military airport in the Mazzeh area on the opposite side of Damascus.

According to Syria’s state-run news agency (SANA), which cited a military source, Israeli fighter jets launched missiles from the Golan Heights, striking Damascus International Airport and several other locations in the vicinity.

The government-run agency reported that the airport suffered “material damage,” rendering it inoperative.

Israel rarely provides comments on specific strikes in Syria; however, it consistently asserts its commitment to preventing Iran, from expanding its influence in the region and supporting President Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian government.
