(Worthy News) – Antisemitic acts in France nearly quadrupled in 2023, compared to the previous year, according to a warning from the country’s leading Jewish interest group. The Council of Jewish Institutions in France (Crif) attributed this sharp increase in incidents to the aftermath of the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel.

Crif reported an alarming increase to 1,676 antisemitic acts in 2023, a near quadruple rise from the 436 incidents recorded in the previous year.

Out of the 1,676 antisemitic incidents in 2023, 1,242 occurred in the last three months of the year, following Hamas’s attack on Israel and Israel’s retaliatory airstrikes on Gaza, marking a significant surge since the outbreak of the war.

The report highlighted that the total number of antisemitic incidents in 2023 “equalled that of the previous three years combined.”
