WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – The United States says the drone attack that killed three U.S. service members in Jordan was carried out by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias that includes the militant group Kataib Hezbollah.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Wednesday the U.S. believes the attack was planned, resourced, and facilitated by the group.

U.S. officials say Sunday’s drone attack on a military base in Jordan killed three troops and injured at least 40 others.

Kirby warned President Joe Biden pondering a retaliation. The Biden administration is “focusing on a U.S. response.”

Yet the comments seemed at odds with President Biden telling reporters earlier this week the United States did not want “a wider war in the Middle East.”

Kirby said the Islamic Resistance in Iraq is an umbrella organization that includes the Kataib Hezbollah group, which seeks to establish an Iran-aligned government in Iraq.

The attacks are part of Iran’s self-declared efforts to destroy Israel and target its allies, including the United States.

The U.S. government says the Kataib Hezbollah group has been involved in previous clashes with U.S. forces and suggested it was involved in the deadly attack Sunday.

On Tuesday, Pentagon Spokesperson Sbrina Singh said Sunday’s attack had the “footprints of Kataib Hezbollah.”

The revelations came as President Biden began preparing to attend the sad return of the fallen three troops to U.S. soil on Friday at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, known as “a dignified transfer,” the White House announced.
