Nigeria: More Than 8,000 Christians Murdered Last Year In “Jihadist Genocide,” Report

(Worthy News) – Islamic jihadists slaughtered more than 8,000 Christians in Nigeria in 2023 alone, according to a new report by Nigerian human rights organization International Society for Civil Liberty and Rule of Law (Intersociety).
Based in Onitsha, eastern Nigeria, Intersociety advocates for the promotion and advancement of democracy and good governance, respect for civil liberties and rule of law, and enforcement of human rights in Nigeria.
In its latest International Investigative Report for Nigeria dated Feb. 14, 2024, Intersociety attests that 8,222 Nigeria Christians were “hacked to death” in 2023, during the course of an ongoing “Jihadist Genocide Of Christians In Nigeria.”
Intersociety says 2023 was the “bloodiest” year in the systematic Islamic slaughter of Nigerian Christians which began in 2009 with the uprising of terror group Boko Haram.
“Nigeria has become the second deadliest Genocide-Country in the world accounting for more than 150,000 religiously motivated defenseless civilian deaths since 2009 (fifteen years of Boko Haram Jihadist Uprising in Nigeria),” Intersociety says in the report.
“The massacre of Christians in Nigeria is now dubbed ‘Silent Genocide or ‘Jihadist Genocide of Christians,’ Intersociety continues.
“Killings and associated grisly and egregious violence against persons or groups and properties of international coloration; perpetrated on the grounds of ethnicity and religion accounted for over 150,000 defenseless civilian deaths since 2009.”
Advocates for religious freedom and human rights, including the US state department’s own Commission on International Religious Freedom, have long warned of a genocide against Christians in Nigeria. Nevertheless, the Islamic-led Nigerian government has allowed the killings to continue with impunity, and the international community, including the United States, has done nothing of any substance to stop the bloodshed.
