(Worthy News) – Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has warned the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon that it will “pay a very high price” if it continues firing rockets at Israeli communities, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.

Led by Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah is a Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group whose paramilitary wing is known as the Jihad Council.

While Israel has been engaged in all out war in Gaza since the Palestinian jihadist group Hamas carried out a genocidal attack in Israel on Oct. 7, the IDF has also had to fend off attacks on its northern border by the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon. Both Hamas and Hezbollah are supported by Iran, whose Islamic regime is intent on seeing the destruction of Israel.

“Hezbollah decided on October 7th, in the evening, that it is joining [in Hamas’ war against Israel]. For that it must pay a very high price,” Halevi said Tuesday during an assessment in northern Israel, with the chief of the Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin.

The situation in northern Israel had deteriorated such that some 80,000 Israeli residents were evacuated, as were the border communities with Gaza after Oct. 7. However, as the IDF has carried out defensive operations against Hezbollah, some of the displaced Israelis have been allowed to return home.

“I think that if we do the right thing, [the residents] will return first of all because of the security,” Halevi said. “To bring the people back here with security and quality of life, the state will know how to make an effort,” he added.
