(Worthy News) – The slaughter of Christians in Nigeria at the hands of Islamic jihadists is ongoing with impunity, and on Feb. 28, two more Christians were murdered and dozens kidnapped in the northern Nigerian state of Kaduna, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. Islamic terrorists have murdered some 60,000 Nigerian Christians since jihadism took hold in the country in 2009.

The Feb. 28 attack took place during the night in the predominantly Christian village of Gonin Gora in Chikun County, Kaduna state, MSN reports.

“The attackers, who we know to be Muslim bandits terrorizing Christians in Kaduna state, attacked the Angwan Auta area of Gonin Gora and killed two Christians,” area resident Patience Ali told MSN in a text message. “They also broke into about 10 houses belonging to Christians and kidnapped dozens of members from these households.” Many other Christians were wounded in the assault, Ali said.

Samuel Aruwan, commissioner of the state Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the attack. “The Kaduna state government has directed security agencies to as a matter of urgency deploy their personnel to the area to repel the attackers,” Aruwan said.

In Jan. 2022, the Open Doors international Christian advocacy organization reported that more Christians were murdered the previous year in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world combined. “In 2021, at least 5,898 Christians paid the ultimate cost for following Jesus, almost 80% of whom come from Nigeria,” Open Doors UK said in a website statement. The heightened violence against Christians largely comes from four groups: Boko Haram, Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP), Fulani militants and armed ‘bandits,’” Open Doors said.
