(Worthy News) – In yet another “brazen” murderous assault on Christian communities in Nigeria, Fulani jihadist herdsmen slaughtered seven people in attacks on villages in central Nigeria’s Benue state last month, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. Well over sixty thousand Christians have been murdered by Islamic terrorists since Sharia law and jihadism took hold in swathes of north and central Nigeria in 2009.

The recent attacks in Benue state began on March 19 and lasted through March 20, MSN reports. With no resistance from the Nigerian army or security services, terrorists targeted the Yongia Ukambie Tiev and Ukembrergya-Tswarev Christian communities in the state’s Logo County, Rev. Jonathan Adagbe, chairman of the Logo Local Government Council, told MSN.

“The attacks were carried out by the herdsmen who were accompanied by a group of terrorists,” Pastor Adagbe said. “These herdsmen act brazenly and attack Christians at will and with impunity. No one dares challenge their terrorist acts; not even the military or other security agents are able to curtail their activities against Christian communities.”

In a separate statement to MSN, Christian Community leader Joseph Anawah added: “The herdsmen, whom we believe are working alongside terrorists, attacked our villages for two days, beginning on Tuesday, 19 March,” Anawah told MSN. “The terrorists started attacking our villages at about 4 pm and continued on Wednesday, 20 March. So far, we know that seven Christians were killed during the invasion on our villages.”

More Christians are murdered in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined. According to the Open Doors international Christian advocacy organization, 4,118 Nigerian Christians were killed for their faith from Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023.
