Iranian-Backed Militia Groups Intensifies Attacks on US Forces in Syria and Iraq

(Worthy News) – As Israel battles Iran-backed conflict on multiple fronts, Tehran has intensified its use of proxy terrorist groups to attack US forces in Syria and Iraq, the Jerusalem Post reports. The already-notable attacks by Iranian proxies on US bases have seen a marked uptick since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Iran-backed Hamas.
Most recently, according to the IRNA pro-Iranian media outlet, “resistance groups” carried out missile strikes against a US military base with missiles in Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria on July 26.
“The resistance fighters [Iranian-backed militias] targeted the US base in the Koniko gas field in Syria,” both the Al Mayadeen and IRNA said in the same report. “The missile attack hit the military base, and the sound of explosions was heard in the nearby villages,” IRNA reported.
“Regional resistance groups have repeatedly targeted US and Israeli interests in the region since the onset of the US-backed Israeli war on the Gaza Strip last October,” IRNA said.
Two days earlier, on July 24, militants struck US forces at Asad base. “It is one of two recent attacks in Iraq that illustrate Iran has ordered its militias to return to targeting the US,” JPost reports.
“This is all part of a well-planned and orchestrated attempt by Iran to exert its own maximum pressure on the US and to open up a multiple-front war against Israel,” JPost noted in its report.
