(Worthy News) – Highest number of Jews outside Israel, New York City has continued to see an alarming surge in antisemitic incidents since the Oct.7 Hamas attack on Israel triggered the ongoing war in Gaza, the Jewish Telegraph Agency (JTA) reports.

The New York Police Department reported 30 antisemitic incidents across NYC in July alone, three times more than were reported in the same month last year, JTA reports.

“Last month, Jews were targeted in more hate incidents than all other groups combined, as they have been nearly every month since October 2023,” JTA said in its report.

“There were 52 total hate crimes reported to police last month, including five targeting Asians, one against Black people, five based on gender, eight based on sexual orientation, one based on religious bias, and two against white people. The NYPD did not record any hate incidents against Muslims or Hispanic people,” JTA noted.

The number of reported hate crimes against Jews in NYC was at its highest in October last year, shortly after the Hamas Palestinian terror group invaded Israel and killed 1,200 mostly civilian men, women, children, babies, and elderly people. Hamas took 254 hostages from Israel to Gaza during the same attack. NYC saw 69 reported hate crimes against Jews that month.
