TEHRAN (Worthy News) – Iran’s feared Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani, who had not been heard from since Israeli strikes on Lebanon’s capital Beirut early this month, has appeared in Tehran, Iranian sources say.

He was seen at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, Iran’s capital, while reportedly waiting for the arrival of the body of former IRGC Major General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was assassinated in an airstrike in September.

Iranian officials said contact had been lost with Qaani, who was in Beirut’s southern suburbs, known as the Dahiyeh, during a strike that was reported to have targeted senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddin

It comes amid an apparent power struggle in Tehran, with Qaani reportedly facing an investigation into security breaches in Iran.

During the interrogations, Qaani reportedly suffered from a heart attack.

Yet Iranian state media claimed that Qaani was “in full health” and would be receiving “the Medal of Conquest from Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” Iran’s supreme leader in the near future.

His appearance was expected to be closely watched by Israel, which is due to strike Iran in response to Tehran’s recent launch of some 200 rockets into Israel.
