Tropical Storms Grace, Henri Could Become Hurricanes

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Grace, in the Caribbean, is likely to become a hurricane later Wednesday, while Tropical Storm Henri, in the Atlantic, could reach hurricane status later in the week.

US on pace to see more migrants at border than in last 20 years

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Tuesday that the US is on pace to see more Central American migrants arriving at the south-western border than it has in the last 20 years. In a written statement on the DHS website, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas said the department is expelling most single adults and families, but is not expelling the surge of unaccompanied minors.

Winter storms caused $155 billion in economic damages

Devastating coast-to-coast winter weather is estimated to have caused around $155 billion in economic damages, making it likely that February 2021 was the costliest in terms of weather impact in recent US history, UPI reports. The estimated economic damage costs for the entire 2020 Atlantic hurricane season were a comparatively small $60 billion to $65 billion.
