Worthy Christian News » NEWS ALERT: Secret Christian Church in Mecca

Eric Leijenaar, Worthy News Senior Special Correspondent

MECCA, SAUDI ARABIA (Worthy News) — Christians have set up an underground church in Mecca, viewed by Muslims as the "holiest city in Islam", while tens of thousands of other Saudi Christians are worshiping via the Internet, a mission group confirmed Friday, April 24.

"It is unclear how many people are participating in the church in Mecca, because people are afraid to talk about it openly," said Jaap Bönker, director of Netherlands-based Arabische Wereld Zending, or 'Arabic World Mission,' which has close contacts with believers in Muslim nations.

News of the secret church comes despite strict rules forbidding non-Muslims to enter Mecca where huge 'Muslim Only' traffic signs warn outsiders about these regulations, reported Worthy News´ Dutch news partner Manna-Vandaag.nl

In addition, Bönker said, some 70,000 people are worshipping in what has been dubbed  Saudi Arabia's 'Skype Church', a reference to an Internet program that allows people to communicate with each other via relative secure connections.

He said the developments are part of a growing Christian movement in "the heart of Islam" despite reports of persecution of Christian converts.

Bönker stressed his group is receiving reports "that God is active" across the Muslim world, including in Iran and Saudi Arabia. He also said there are "hundreds of Christians" in autocratically ruled Libya where there were only "some 20" known believers in 2003.

The official explained that satellite radio and television programs, the Internet, as well as "disbelief in [their] own religion, and especially visions and dreams" play a major role in the spread of Christianity.

He said Arabic World Mission is investigating ways to help new believers in Saudi Arabia to better understand their faith. "However it has become evident that God Himself" educates people "through His Spirit," added Bönker.

So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit." John 20:19-22 (NASB)

We praise You Lord that as You appeared to the disciples as they feared the Jews, so You do now for Your disciples behind locked doors as they fear the Muslims. You are the Lord our God and we say Hallelujah! We praise You Lord God Almighty!!!!! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Amen

We must pray hard for the Christians in Mecca, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Muslim world. God is doing a great thing in these last days before the rapture of His church.

Incredible… These brave men and women of God will be greatly-rewarded for their ministry in such a dangerous city! Let us never cease in our prayers for these people, who are putting their lives on the line by spreading the Gospel to this Muslim holy place! God bless you all, and especially these mighty people!

My heart just rejoices to hear this. Thank you Oh Lord Jesus for revealing Yourself to them and many others, thereby preparing them for their future both here and in eternity. How GOOD is our SAVIOR to His people who receive Him with fervency and gratitude !!!!!

Persecution always strengthens one's resolve, when it is genuine. I believe this to be true because of the
power-filled Spirit of the Living God, Who gives the added measure as needed.

One the other hand, apathy is the companion of worldly contentment, which explains why the Church, as a whole, in America has become so weak and double minded. We sleepy Christians have turned into dry fields needing water from those full of zeal and faith; those from a land where persecution is a way of life that has bonded them to their Savior and to each other.

Send to us those, Oh Lord, who will stir up our faith and love for You and help us to be thankful for what we still have before it is taken away once and for all.

Thy will and Thy will alone be done in each of your children.

If they expect any kind of institutional Baptist Church in Mecca to last very long I sure hope that they built it in the form of a bunker!
Anyone who puts up a Christian Church sanctuary of any sort anywhere near Muslims really needs to look into some kind of fireproof construction, at the very least.

This certainly isn't the first time the Church has had to go "underground" – given the current US Syndicate in power (AKA "Administration") we might have to do the same before long.

I wonder if they have catacombs in Mecca?

The only way to save the World from becoming a third world retrograde, repressive, barbaric Caliphate at this point is for a mighty working of God like is alluded to here.
I don't really think that the "free" or "Christian" World (not that we really are much of either nowadays) can possibly defend against them militarily or economically indefinitely; it would be like warding off a swarm of killer bees with a fly swatter.

Stuff like this report though, makes me wonder if I ought to b!tc# about the Muslims a little less and pray for them a little more.

    Something to ponder methinks…

    In re-reading the Book of Acts I'm reminded that the early Church didn't get much press or win many converts be being "normal";

When the Apostles prayed for the sick and infirm, if they had just gotten worse and died, or if the dead they prayed over just continued to quietly decompose, I don't think that anyone would have been overly impressed, do you?

In order for the Moslem World, America, or the World in general to be saved it's going to take a huge global REVIVAL – fully accompanied if not stimulated by a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit in revelations, miracles and wonders as in days of old.

Could this development suggest the beginning of such a miraculous revival?

I for one might hope and pray so.

    Stay tuned…

"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

Many years ago the Lord prompted me to have a children's "Night of Power" to have children pray for the Muslim world. Among the things that happened that night was we prayed for dreams and visions of Jesus to occur within the Muslim world during what they called their own "Night of Power".

The children wept before the Lord to pray for these people. One girl's tears ran down of a flag of a Muslim country. Others saw visions of what the Lord was doing in response to their prayers including angels opening gates with bars that had long since been closed.

I do believe that God responded to the prayers of the children that night as we prayed targeted prayers for the Muslim world. I also believe what we see today in part was the result of these children's prayers.

And Saudi Arabia has also banned the importation of Bibles….fools. Don't they understand that the Bible can come in over the computer, be downloaded to an mp3 player and listened to by any number of people? Try and ban the Word of God. There is always a way around man's puny efforts to silence Him.

Our Father which art in Heaven Hallowed be your name your kingdom come to Mecca your will be done in Mecca, my Brothers my Sisters in Christ for what I have recently be shown through vision let's stand with one mind and one heart in the name of our Lord Yeshua and start proclaiming the earth back as our Gods territory I have so much love flowing through me for the Islamic community world wide and my heart breaks for these people that have been led astray by one man named Mohammed but even he was misguided by the one that tries to destroy all that Abba Father created for his pleasure it's time to come together as one family and wage war against the father of lies Lucifer, who could put such a love in me for those that kill my brothers and sisters in Christ that love comes from the one and only true loving and living God Jehovah, for I have felt his heart for these beautiful but deceived people remember Jesus Christ laid his life down for all so we could all be reconciled back to our Father which Art in Heaven so we could by the Spirit of God call out Abba Father, To be wise I won't share the whole vision here but I will say this before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ there will be such an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this world (Revival) that will turn the Arabic Nations upside down with Truth there will be many Christian Radicals from the western world that will have cried out to God that are willing to lay there lives down as true followers of Jesus Christ to bring The Good News to these people no matter what the cost, Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!!! Much Love too you all for the advancement of Christ and his kingdom may our Fathers Blessing be upon you all now and always from your brother in Christ, Daniel

Actually, there are about 100.000 official Christians in Lybia, half is Coptic, half Cathollic. Probably also a number of secret (converted) Christians there. But Christianity in Mecca, that is remarkable. The Bible is a forbidden book in the Saudi Kingdom, as far as I know. But then, modern technology comes of help.
